Shingles have a life span and will need to be replaced once they have reached the end of their life. Here are four signs that can tell you it is time to have your roof replaced.

1. Loss of Shingle Granules in Gutters or Runoff

One sign of an outdated roof that needs to be replaced is the loss of granules. This can sometimes be seen in gutters where they collect from roof runoff. If you do not have gutters, they may be on the ground where water sheds off your roof. This is not always noticeable damage, but a sign of age and that the roof is nearing the end of its life. Sometimes, this is not something that is completely visible from the ground if there is only slight deformation. If you get on a ladder, look at your shingles and notice that some are slightly deformed, it is likely that you need to have your roof replaced. This is something that can happen faster with fungus growth on the shingles in shaded areas of your home.

This can sometimes be seen in insulation, which is there is extensive evidence of moisture; it is likely that the shingles need to be replaced. Another sign of can be watermarks on eaves and other areas where water may be leaking through the roof. These problems can lead to more serious water damage problem, which is why you will want to have them addressed quickly.

4. Damaged or Missing Shingles in Areas Like Valleys

Another sign that you need a new roof is damaged or missing shingles. On the main body of a roof, this is something that can sometimes be obvious. There are areas of the roof such as valleys, which can hide these problems and may not be as noticeable.
