3 Things To Talk To Your Roofer About

The last thing that you want to hear from your roofer is that you need to have a roof replacement done, but it's better to get it taken care of before it's too late. When your roofer comes over to give you a bid or to go over your options, there are a few different things that you should talk to them about. But what? This article will take a closer look and see. Read on.

Types of Roofs

You may think that asphalt shingles are the only type of shingles out there, but there are other options as well. depending on your budget and the part of the country that you are living in, your roofer may recommend clay tiles, wooden shingles, metal roof, slate, or even a flat roof made of some sort of plastic sheeting. If you have a Spanish-style house and you live in a part of the country that's warm, then you may want to get Spanish tiles for your roof. If, however, you have a more modern house, then you may want to go with a flat or slate roof.

Rain gutters

One expense that a lot of homeowners don't think about when they get a new roof is additional things like rain gutters. When your roofer comes over, they can look at your rain gutters and see if you can reuse them or if you need new ones. Then, if you do need new ones, you will have to decide if you want traditional tin rain gutters or if you want to go with something a little bit more ornate like copper.

Reroofing Vs Replacement

Did you know that there's a difference between having your roof reroofed versus having it replaced? When you have your roof reroofed, they will place shingles over the tops of your existing shingles (this can usually only be done with asphalt shingles). The good thing about this option is that it costs less money, but it can only be done once and may not be the best way to go. If you have it in your budget, con9sider having your entire roof replaced because it will last longer and usually be more effective.

As you can see, there several things that you should talk to your roofing company about. To learn more about these things and other questions to ask, contact a roof replacement company near you and ask them to come give you a bid.
